125 g butter, cubed and softened at room temperature 

450 ml rolled oats (gluten-free if applicable) 

100 g brown sugar 

12 Golden Delicious apples 

3 Tablespoons ground cinnamon 

Method 

Use a mandolin cutter to slice the apples very thinly. 

Layer in an oven-proof dish and dust with cinnamon after each layer.  

Using a food processor or stick blender, mill the oats into a course of 

flour. 

Soften  

Mix the oat flour and sugar, and then use your fingers to mix with the softened butter.  

Work quickly so the butter doesn’t get too hot. You want to make crumbs – not dough. 

Crumble the mixture over the apple layers. 

Bake at 180˚C for 45 – 60 minutes or until the crumbs are golden brown. 

Serve with a spoonful of whipped cream.
